Fitness Freaks and Adventure Lovers who are willing to trek. Here are 5 easy treks one can do if you are a beginner.
1. Kalsubai Trek. (Everest of Maharashtra)

Kalsubai is a mountain in the Western Ghats Located in the Indian state of Maharashtra.It is the Highest Peak in Maharashtra with summit situated at 5400 feet.It can be complete in one day with lush green landscape and several waterfalls on its way .Well discovered trekking routes are build to reach the summit. One requires quite good endurance to complete the trek. No need to worry determination to reach the summit also helps.
How to reach:
By Road: Via Igatpuri on Mumbai-Nashik route and reach the base village.
By Train: Reach Kasara railway station and from there private or public
transport to reach the base village. (Bari Gaon)
2. Harishchandragad (Kokankada) Via Pachnai

Harishchandragad is a hill fort located in Ahmednagar district. It is one of the most ancient fort. Harishchandragad is mentioned in many puranas. There are lot of places to visit in Harishchandragad. Based on personal experience, This is one of the most amazing trek one can experience. There are 4–5 routes to reach the fort. Pachnai is the easiest route one can take if He/She is new to the trekking family. There is also something called as kokankada festival which one can experience on the way to fort. This festival helds every year in the month of February (last week). One can do camping here in kokankada to experience this festival.
How to reach:
Reach Kasara Station from there either take private vehicle directly to Pachnai or one can take jeep from Kasara to Rajur village and from there take ST Bus to Pachnai Village.
3. Rajmachi Fort Trek
Rajmachi Fort is one of the many historical forts in the rugged hills of Sahyadri mountains. Rajmachi is famous for Night Treks. The best time to visit Rajmachi is between May-June as one can witness fireflies in this period. Rajmachi distance is 15 km and it is almost a plain walk. It takes approximately three and a half hour to cover the distance on foot. Private vehicles drops till Della adventure resort and from there the trek starts.
How to reach.
There are two approaches to Fort Rajmachi,
(a) from Lonavala and (b) from Kondivde or Kondhane village in Karjat Taluka of Raigad District.
4. Visapur Fort Trek

Visapur Fort (also called Visapoor Fort) is a hill fort near Visapur village in Maharashtra, India. t is located in Pune District, 5 to 6 km from Malavli Railway station. It is 1084 Meters above the sea level. Best time to visit Visapur Fort is Monsoon as it is famous for waterfalls. Its one of the most major attraction is Pawna Lake.
How to Reach
The cheapest and convenient way to reach the fort is via railways. The nearest railhead to Visapur Fort is Malavli station (approx. 5 kms) which is well connected to Mumbai, Lonavala, and Pune via local trains. From Malavli station shared auto/taxi are available for the base village of Visapur Fort.
5. Kothaligad Fort Trek

Kothaligad is a small fort situated to the east of Karjat near Karjat-Murbad Road in the Indian State of Maharashtra. It is 3100 Feet above the sea level. It is one of the famous treks in Karjat area because of it small height and easy climbing. Kothaligad is also known as The Fort of Peth because of it vicinity to Peth village as its base. The trek starts from Ambivili village that is linked to Peth. It takes 3–4 hours to reach Kothaligad fort and on its way to Peth village it takes not more than 2 hours. There is a small waterfall on the way to Fort. Best time to visit is Monsoon.
How to reach.
Take a train to Neral Railway Station, from there local rickshaw (tum-tum) will take you to Kashele. After reaching Kashele you can immediately board another rickshaw going to Jamrukh and alight at Ambivili village.
Sahyadri is blessed with immensely beautiful Forts and one can experience a lot of treks. These were some easy treks to start with if you are a beginner.
